It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Department of Civil Engineering at the SNS College of Engineering. The program was established in the year 2011 to offer Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. We are young, but rapidly growing department with over 60 students. We take great pride in developing future Civil Engineers for cotton city of Coimbatore as well as the nation. Our department proudly houses 18 vibrant, dedicated and motivated faculty members with several specialized sub-disciplines: Structural Engineering, Infrastructural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Construction Management. On daily basis, Civil Engineers are touched many facets of human life and contribute their knowledge and service to the society. From the structures of our homes to designing efficient transportation system or water supply system of drinking water/irrigation and environment we live in, in one way or another all are touched and influenced by the work and dedication of Civil Engineers. Our activities and mission fall into three categories: Teaching, Research, and Service. Our students are being prepared to be socially responsible leaders in the field of Civil Engineering whether it is research and development, graduate study, or practice as professional engineers. Recently, we signed a MoU with Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia which opened up an opportunity for our students and faculty to work in a collaborative research project on "Antimicrobial concreting" at their university. Our students and faculty have also got exposure to latest technology by attending a short term training program on "Advances in Construction Technology and it's Techniques" in collaboration with the University of Malaya.
